The following excerpt from the book represents the typical information found in each section. A brief history of the military situation at a given time introduces each section. The lists that follow generally adhere to the same format from one section to the next. First are records that apply to the army in general, with sub-categories for officers, troops, and other military personnel, as appropriate. After the general information, the section lists records for the cavalry, then infantry, then artillery, and then any other categories of military personnel that were relevant at the time. For each type of record listed, the FHL microfilm is identified. This book contains hundreds of pages with the type of detail shown in the excerpt below.
